European Market – December 2023

Inland: Fuel price fluctuations are driving slight increases in inland transportation. As of 12/01/2023, Germany will enforce toll hikes, impacting pickups in the region.

Maritime DRY: Cosco has reduced maritime freight rates for Rotterdam-origin lanes. Meanwhile, Maersk has lowered rates and is keen on firm business quotes and contracts. MSC has also made slight reductions from November’s rates.

Maritime Reefer: We’ve observed a slight uptick in freight levels. Both Cosco and Maersk are showing greater flexibility in negotiations, welcoming new targets. It’s important to note that due to the offseason, there’s a shortage of reefer equipment in Europe, expected to normalize by December.

Additional Insights: Starting 12/01/2023, carriers advise prepayment for local destination charges and maritime freight for shipments headed to Argentina.

Come January 1, 2024, the ETS (EU Emissions Trading System) levy will come into effect, aimed at limiting CO2 emissions from industries. Each carrier will communicate their specific fee upon the release of 2024 freight updates.

Stay tuned for further updates!”

Myon aired on Bahia’s TV

Diving into a significant part of our history, about 21 years ago, Myon began work in storing fruits and perishables from Latin America, with a focus on those coming from Brazil.

Working with this type of storage is a meticulous and challenging endeavor, one that we have approached with dedication from day one, striving to meet all the expectations involved. Some time has passed, pallets have come and gone, new partners have joined us, our systems have been improved, and today we can proudly say we’ve become experts in the field. We acquired our own warehouse located in the prime area of the Rotterdam port, which is constantly bustling with pallets arriving and departing every day. We’ve built strong relationships with our partners and continually seek improvement.

Just recently, on the 10th of October, a news item about Brazil’s logistics and the relationship with Europe aired on Bahia’s TV.

Bahia is one of Brazil’s states with the highest fruit export rate to Europe. Myon had the honor of shedding light on how things work in our warehouse with these fruits, explaining the import process, inspection, and quality control.

It’s an honor for us to add value in the logistics chain, ensuring the highest quality fruits reach the people of Europe. Working in logistics isn’t just any job; it’s about guaranteeing people access to what they desire.

We’ve included the link to the report (in Portuguese) for anyone interested in watching. We would like to take this opportunity to express our gratitude for the trust placed in us by our partners and our team.

MYON’S EXPERIENCE : Artificial Intelligence Impacts in Transport & Logistics

In the month of October, we were able to provide our team and partners with a unique experience. Staying updated in the market, forging new connections, enhancing our processes, and sharing this with those beside us are principles we deeply cherish.

Inviting speaker Ricardo Murer, an artificial intelligence expert, to discuss the latest developments and implications of AI in transportation, freight brokerage, and logistics with our team and partners was truly exceptional. Not only did we learn about ongoing case studies, but we also had the opportunity to engage in discussions about how these advancements practically impact the daily operations of brokerage, while discovering ways to stay up-to-date.

Thank you, Ricardo, for sharing your wealth of knowledge with us, and thanks to all our partners and the Myon team for choosing to be a part of this moment.

European Market – October 2023

Inland:

We continue to observe small increases in inland transportation. Regarding availability, the market remains stable, with a delay of 15 – 20 days for direct cases with the carrier and 7 days with dedicated service (possibly less).

Maritime DRY:

Cosco’s own service (in partnership with ONE) began operating in September – the first ship departed from the port of Rotterdam on September 21st. Other carriers have also reduced their freight rates. We have not encountered any issues with equipment availability. Maersk has rolled over some cargo, while other carriers are adhering to the schedule.

Maritime Reefer:

Rates have decreased, although not in line with DRY rates. For more efficient negotiations, it’s essential to always inform the shipper and provide the volume.

Additional Information:

There is a downward trend in freight rates expected in the coming months following the launch of the new Cosco/ONE service.

France:

There are no space issues for FOB shipments. For EXW cases, it is advisable to plan in advance to ensure that collection can be made on the desired date (approximately 2 weeks in advance).
